Road Trip Weekend

My weekends are usually filled with house cleaning, catching up on work, napping, reading, writing and sometimes a good meal or two with friends and family.
Hubby works 7 days a week, if not at the office, then on his phone. A few weeks ago, he asked me if I'd like to follow him to Kuala Klawang as he saw some sign which said "Pantai" during one of his trips near there and there is no way a beach could be located there. I really wasn't in the mood to work or do anything productive, so I agreed.
We left in his Satria GTI (which is left idle during the weekdays and needs the exercise at least once a week) at about noon towards Negeri Sembilan. On these rides, it's always more fun to skip the highways and take the rural and more scenic kampung roads. We stopped over in Lenggeng for lunch at a Malay stall there.

I absolutely love authentic Malay food (and food in general) and piled up my plate with rice, fried chicken, one big prawn and ladies fingers. Hubby decided…

The different types of Massages for your different needs

When you're in need of a massage, you would have opted for either a Swedish massage, Balinese massage, Deep Tissue massage, Shiatsu massage or Thai massage depending on your purpose.

The Swedish massage is great first-timers as its long, smooth, sweeping strokes help cramped or tense muscles and improve blood flow to the skin.

Unlike Swedish, in the Balinese massage, techniques are performed very slow and very deep (to clear energy blockages) with essential oil. Also the Balinese will always massage the stomach as this is beneficial for colon health and the reproductive system. Ideal for those with damaged tissue or strained muscles or joints, and for anyone experiencing some emotional loss or trauma.

If you're an athlete and you need pressure on the muscles while relieving pain and healing injuries, the Deep Tissue massage is for you.

The Shiastsu massage involves application of pressure to your body using fingers, thumbs and palms and in turn, freeing blockages that prevent…

Paying tribute to the great music of ABBA

The hall was already buzzing with animated chatter when my blog contest winner- Angela Lau and her friend, my hubby and I walked in at 8.20pm.

The stage was lit with lasers and some guests were busy taking photos near the stage. At 8.45pm, the lights dimmed and the sound of a landing helicopter filled the hall.

Arrival from Sweden decked in ABBA 1960's outfits warmed up the crowd with the opening number "That's Me" before getting us tapping our feet with "Knowing Me Knowing You".

The group comprised of founder Vicky Zetterberg (also known as Victoria Norback), Madelene Johansson, Jonas Karlsson and Rolf Ivraeus. But after some 22 years performing as Abba lookalikes, it somehow doesn’t seem outlandish to identify them as their idols – Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, and Benny Andersson – respectively.

The LED screen and stage lights filled the hall with psychedelic colours creating a dancing ambiance that was hard to resist. Soo…

One Glass of Milk Every Morning for a Strong Start

So we're in the third quarter of the year. Time to have a check on our health goals. Let's talk about your milk intake.

Milk — whether it's cow's milk, soy milk, or almond milk — provides between one-fourth and one-third of all the calcium most kids and adults should have in a day. Cow's milk is also an excellent source of lean protein. It contains many other essential nutrients, including phosphorus, vitamin D, potassium, niacin, and riboflavin, important for adult and kid's health.

I've always loved milk as a kid and continue to do so as an adult.

Most kids (73 percent) drink milk, but only about 20 percent drink low-fat or nonfat milk, which is the healthiest option. According to the South East Asian Nutrition Survey (SEANUTS), nearly 50% of children in Malaysia do not meet calcium and vitamin D needs, and the Malaysian Adults Nutritional Survey 2014 indicates adults' intake of major micronutrients such as calcium, iron, vitamins A and C, is less th…

ABBA releases the Dancing Queen in me

There are only a few artistes whose music lasts decades and remain relevant to younger audiences. ABBA, Aerosmith, Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Nirwana, U2 are some of my all time favourites. My current favourite of all favourites, Coldplay, will definitely be relevant in the next few decades.

I couldn't get my hands on Coldplay tickets when they performed in Malaysia recently but I'm happy to know that I would be able to sing and dance to ABBA famed for hits such as "Money Money Money", "Knowing Me Knowing You" and "Dancing Queen" when the tribute band from Sweden performs here in September.

AC Music Entertainment will bring you the international hit tribute musical Arrival from Sweden – The Music of ABBA. Arrival from Sweden, is a renowned ABBA tribute band, and will perform their greatest hits and a previously unreleased song “Just a Notion”, directly from Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA. This tribute show d…
