Scary treats to eat

Head scratching is not needed for Halloween treats for your upcoming party. Just try the below recipes found on the net..ah..the conveniences of being connected!

Body Parts on a Stick

For some reason, the simplest recipes will get the most response at parties, especially when the party consists of a mixed company of children and adults. This recipe is no exception. All evening long we heard children saying gleefully "Look, mom! I'm eating an eyeball!". This is a really harmless dish as all of the ingredients are easily identifiable. The kids just love to play along with the game.
Use any variation of the ingredients below and serve a few dipping sauces with the sticks. You can also cheese with aspic cutters into a variety of shapes (or to keep in theme heart shapes) rather than just using it cubed.

Cooked red hot dogs (fingers)

Cooked German (white) hot dogs (fingers)

Pimento stuffed olives (eyeballs)grapes

Peeled if desired (eyeballs)cherry tomatoes

Peeled if desired (bloody eyeballs)
Marinated baby onions (ghost eyeballs)
Gherkin pickles (goblin fingers)
Cheese cubesfruit slices

Stack a variety of ingredients on a toothpick or kebob. Chill until ready to serve.

Crispy Won Ton skins

Add some food coloring to the butter and then cut the won ton skins into interesting Halloween shapes before you bake them. It's a fun way to serve the chips and kids, especially will love how they look (and taste!)

After cutting the won tons into shapes, you'll have left overs, just save them, bake them and use them on top of egg drop soup or Chinese chicken salad. Here are some ideas for shapes: Orange pumpkins, ghosts, black cats, bats and green witches. How fun is snacking now?

What you'll need:

- 6 Tablespoons butter (melted)
- 20 won ton skins
- food coloring
- salt

1. First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

2. Next, add the food coloring to the melted butter.
3. Then, brush a baking sheet with a little of the melted butter. While you are waiting for the oven to finish heating, cut the won ton skins into your desired halloween shapes.

4. Try and put as many of the cut shapes as you can on the baking sheet. And then brush the pieces with your colored butter.

5. Bake the crispy won ton skins for about 5 minutes or until they turn crispy and golden.
6. Repeat this process until all of the crisps are cooked.

Serve and watch the smiles all around!

Halloween Jiggly Hands
Halloween Jiggly Hands make a really fun and creepy treat that your little group of ghouls and goblins will gobble up. Try this recipe out for the upcoming Halloween festivities.
This Halloween snack is easy to make and more fun to eat. But also, the jello treat you are about to make is a great idea for an edible decoration.

What you'll need:

- 2 1/2 cups of boiling water
- 4 packages* of any flavored gelatin
- 2 disposable gloves (clean!)
- cooking spray
- prepared drink mix or carbonated beverage

* each package serves four

1. First of all, stir the boiling water into the flavored gelatin. Use a medium-sized bowl and stir for around 2 minutes until the gelatin is dissolved.
2. Then, refrigerate the mixture for around 10 minutes to cool.

3. While you are letting the gelatin cool, soak the 2 disposable gloves in warm water and make sure you rinse it well. You will need to squeeze out all the excess water to make the gloves dry out faster.

4. Next, take the gloves and spray the insides with the cooking spray. The reason you need to do this is so the gloves will be easier to remove from the gelatin, so make sure you are thorough when you spray the gloves.

5. Then, slowly pour the gelatin into the gloves. Using a funnel to do this is very helpful. Once the gloves are filled, tie the opening with a twistie or use a rubber band. Place the filled gloves on a cookie or baking sheet. You will need to refrigerate the gloves for at least 4 hours or until the gelatin is set.

6. Once the gelatin has been refrigerated long enough, you simply cut the gloves away and presto! you have 2 Halloween Jiggly Hands! (pix courtesy of Kraft Foods)
Now, you can use your hands as a decoration for your party that can be eaten later, or place the hands in a bowl of the chilled drink mix or soda. Your guests will think you are the coolest and the kids will want to eat the hands immediately! Have fun!

Scary Halloween Cheese Fingers

What you'll need for Halloween Cheese Fingers:

- Mozzarella string cheese
- Green bell pepper
- Cream cheese

1. Wear plastic sandwich bags or plastic gloves to keep the cheese sticks from smudging when you handle them. Use a paring knife (adults only) to cut each string cheese in half. Carve a little shallow area for the fingernail - just below the rounded end of each half of the rounded side of the string cheese.

2. Make joint marks with the paring knife just below the nail and more marks for the knuckle join. You can do this by cutting out little horizontal wedges of the cheese. Take a look at the picture to see what I mean.
3. To make the fingernails, simply slice up the green bell pepper into 3/8 inch pieces. Turn the strips over so the skin side is down and trim off any extra pulp. This will make it half as thick. Notice how the tops of the "fingernails" are ragged. Cut your bell pepper pieces so they look like that. Then, stick them in place by "gluing" them with tiny dabs of cream cheese.

And, you are not limited by green bell pepper. Try using red or yellow bell pepper. Or, if you want to get really creepy, carve the fingernails out of the skin of an eggplant! (pix courtesy of http://www.familyfun.com/)
